OUR MISSION:
Beverly Trimble
Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Survivor
Beverly was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in December of 1999. She had a Bone Marrow Transplant in January of 2000. The Leukemia came back in 2002 and she had a Stem Cell Transplant in July of 2002 and is living a very healthy life today.
LeukemiaTexas is dedicated to funding Leukemia Research and Patient Aid. All funds are used exclusively in support of Texas residents and institutions. Through its Patient Aid Program, individuals receive financial assistance for treatment expenses left uncovered by insurance. Over 40 individuals ranging in age from 2 to 70 are currently being served. Through its Research Program, grants are awarded for research to develop new and improved methods of treatment and ultimately a cure for leukemia. Current research is conducted at both Baylor Health Care System and The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Over $4.186 million has been awarded for research which has been internationally recognized. Founded in 1970, LeukemiaTexas is not affiliated with any other agency nor receives any government funding. The majority of its funds are raised from annual special events including The Beat Leukemia Ball. Our 2007 Allied Against Cancer benefit provided $50,000 to Leukemia Texas for leukemia research and family assistance support. This year our goal is to double that amount. With your help, we can. Thank you for supporting these important programs on behalf of cancer victims, cancer survivors and their families.
PATIENT AID
For Texas leukemia patients who are under the care of a physician for the treatment of leukemia and need financial help for the cost of their treatment, the LeukemiaTexas Patient Aid program provides up to $1000 per year of financial assistance for necessary treatment expenses not covered by insurance or other third parties. Admission to the program is made on a case-by-case basis.
RESEARCH
LeukemiaTexas awards grants for research to enhance the understanding of leukemia and its cause, to develop new and improved methods of treatment and ultimately to find a cure for this life-threatening blood cancer. All grants are awarded to Texas nonprofit institutions for research conducted in Texas.
